Chemistry Sept. 4 & 5, 2014

Objective: Students will identify the 5 areas of chemistry and reasons to study chemistry by writing an outline of sections 1.1 & 1.2 of the textbook.

WARM-UP
1.Name 2 branches of chemistry and state what aspect of chemistry they study.

2.Give 1 reason why you think that you should or shouldn’t study chemistry.

a.What is chemistry?
b.Why is the scope of chemistry so vast ?
c.What are the 5 traditional areas of chemistry and describe which aspect of chemistry each studies.
d.How are pure and applied chemistry related?
e.Define technology and give an example of technology that is in use today.
