ENVIRONMENTAL SC. APRIL 3 & 4, 2019

OBJECTIVE: Students will create a digital presentation to show their understanding of agricultural practices.

WARM-UP
Give one advantage and one disadvantage of farming a monoculture crop. (see page 366)

Students will create a 7-slide digital presentation using Google Slides or Prezi, to apply their understanding of key concepts of Agriculture. Students will share their presentations with the teacher via Google drive. 

Format

Slide 1 is the title page and should have the your name, class period, and title of your assignment.

Slide 7 is a reference page and should have the title of book used, author, and date published. If internet source is used, the complete web address is given

Slide 2- History of agriculture. When and where did agriculture practices started/invented?

Slide 3-traditional agriculture-What were the agricultural practices used pre-1800s? What was the source of energy used? How effective was this method of farming?

Slide 4-Industrial agriculture-What time period did this practice start? What are the practices used that sets it apart from traditional agriculture? What are some advantages and disadvantages of this type of farming?

Slide 5-Green Revolution-What is green revolution? When was it started and by whom? What are the main practices of the green revolution and how is it different from traditional or industrial agriculture? What are some positive and negative effects of this practice?

Slide 6-genetically modified organisms- What are GMOs? Give 2 examples of GMOs and describe how they are used. What are some positive and negative effects of using GMOs?

CW credit is given on 4/5/19(bday) or 4/8/19(aday) (at least 3 slides, excluding cover slide)
