OBJECTIVE: Students will create an age-sex pyramid in order to see the trends that exist within each subgroup.

WARM-UP
1. Define age structure and sex ratios.
2. Give use for knowing a population’s age structure?

HW Study for a test on Chapter 8, human population (pages 226-250), next class.

Complete Quick lab page 237 and answer questions 1-3

Suggestions to help plot graph

1. Population size is on the x-axis and Age on the  y-axis

2. Convert population size from whole numbers to decimal numbers (for example 5,747,742 becomes 5.7 million

3. Use different color codes for males and females and for white and Hispanics

4. If you are having difficulty plotting both races together, then use a separate graph for each race.
