ENVIRONMENTAL SC. NOV. 28 & 29, 2018

OBJECTIVE: Students will describe and explain the four mechanisms of biological evolution by making notes in their notebooks.

WARM-UP(chapter 5, page 126-130)
What is your personal definition of evolution? How different is your definition from that given in the textbook? 

CW-making notes in your notebooks

Use the following questions to help make your notes:

  1. How do biologists define evolution?
  2. What is meant by the term “gene pool”?
  3. List the 4 mechanisms of biological evolution and define each one and give an example of how each mechanism works to bring about evolution.
  4. What is natural selection?
  5. What are the three conditions necessary for natural selection to occur?
  6. What does the term “survival of the fittest” mean? Give an example to show what you mean.
THERE WILL BE A TEST ON THE ABOVE INFORMATION ON DEC. 4TH & 5TH
