OBJECTIVE: Students will determine their level of circulatory efficiency by measuring their Schneider Index.

WARM-UP

1. Obtain the lab handout, read it then make a prediction on the outcome of each of the following on heart rate and blood pressure (a) as a person’s body position changes from lying down to standing up. (b) after completing a short exercise.

1.Copy table 5 for yourself and a partner.
2.Complete steps 1-3 and record your data in table 5 and find a total score.
3.Record your score on the class data table 6 on the board.
4.Record class data.
5.Find the average class score
Write a summary of your findings. What is the significance of your findings? What are some sources of error? How does your score compare with the class average? How does the class data fit with the scientific literature about circulatory efficiency in teenagers (ages 15-18)
