ENVIRONMENTAL SC. MARCH 19 & 20, 2019

OBJECTIVE: Students will design an experiment to determine the permeability of 2 types of soil and record their findings in report.

W.O.D. Entity-something that exist as a discrete unit

WARM-UP
1. Define the term permeability
2. Name 3 soil types and state how they differ from each other

CW-student lab design

Grouping: Students are to work in pairs, but each student is responsible for their own lab report.

1. State your research question
2. What is your hypothesis about the permeability of the two soil types?
3. List of materials needed (graduated cylinder, beaker, funnel, water, lab scale)
4. Write steps of the procedures that will be used to test your hypothesis. Use a diagram to show how       you will set-up the equipment to test your hypothesis
5. Test your hypothesis and record your results in a data table
6. Make conclusions from your data and answer the research question using claim, evidence, &           reasoning
