OBJECTIVE: Students will (a) design a lab activity to investigate the properties of acids and bases. (b) create notes on acid/base theories.
W.O.D. Parody-a satirical imitation
WARM-UP
1. Define the following terms: Arrhenius acid and base, Bronsted-Lowry acid and base, salt, & neutralization.
2. How can you tell if a solution is acidic or basic?
CW
A. Designing a lab activity
OBJECTIVE: Students will design a lab activity to determine if some common solutions are acidic or basic.
MATERIALS: spot plate, pH paper, Litmus paper, dropper, 5 solutions (give names), and any other equipment you think is needed.
PROCEDURE:
Give detailed steps you would take to test the 5 soultions
DATA TABLE
Show the data table that you would use to collect your data. State briefly under the table what type of data will be collected.
CONCLUSION
CLAIM, EVIDENCE, & REASONING
B. Making notes on acid/base theories.
Define an acid and a base according to (1) Arrhenius theory (2) Bronsted-Lowry theory. Give 2 examples of each for Arrhenius and Bronsted-Lowry.
This blog will provide basic information about my chemistry and environmental sc. classes. It will contain warm-ups, words of the day, an outline of classworks, special projects, and home works for each day. In addition it will contain relevant information connected with my classes in general. Make it a habit of visiting this blog regularly as there will be times that I will mention things here but not in class. ALSO REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR CLASS' RESOURCE PAGE.
