CHEMISTRY FEB.28 & MARCH 1, 2018

OBJECTIVE: Students will design and conduct an investigation to find the relationship between temperature and diffusion rate.

W.O.D. Mimic-to imitate or copy

WARM-UP

1. Define diffusion and give an example.
2. What effect does (a) increase (b) decrease in temperature have on the motion of particles in a substance?

CW
Research question-How does temperature affect the rate of diffusion in water?

Grouping: students are to work in pairs or individually
Objective: Design an investigation to find out how changing the temperature of water would affect how fast diffusion occurs.
Design: List the procedures, materials, and equipment needed. Show  the data table that will be used to collect data and describe how the data will analyzed. Get teacher’s approval before starting.
Collecting the data: complete the investigation and remember to include all observations
Writing a conclusion: Use Claim, Evidence, Reasoning to write your conclusion. (See the student resource page for further explanation on claim, evidence, reasoning)
