OBJECTIVE: Students will use a case study to describe and explain how a chemical synapse works.

WARM-UP
Obtain a copy of the case study, read it completely and annotate the article.

Activity
-read article, annotate, and use the questions (page 2) as discussion points. 
For all points given there must be evidence (from the article) and reasoning (biology understanding) for all answers given.

Part 2 Dr. office, read out aloud by volunteers. Other students must annotate as reading is done.

1. Page 3-Only answer the following on paper: #2 and explain a simple spinal/cranial reflex action (30 mins). Papers collected

Questions 1, 3, & 4 answered orally.

2. Page 4- Find and view a YouTube video on chemical synapse and Answer #4 only on paper along with an annotated diagram of a chemical synapse.(45mins)

3. Complete #5 as a class

Page 6-Discuss and answer all questions in groups of two; 1 answer sheet per pair
