Chemistry March 3 & 7, 2016

OBJECTIVE: Students will determine the relationship between number of particles and the mole.
W.O.D. Vicarious-experienced through another’s action.
WARM-UP (chapter 10.1)
1.What is a mole?
2.What is Avogadro’s number and what does it represent?

3.What are representative particles?
CW
The mole is used in chemistry to measure the amount of substance in 3 ways:
1.By counting the number of particles. 1 mole = 6.02 x 1023 representative particles
2.By mass. 1 mole = molar mass of a compound
3.By volume (for gases only). 1 mole = 22.4 L at STP

Complete handout of mole-particles problems; not graded
